It happened late on a Friday, when just two of us were still at the office. The phone line reserved for incoming support calls kept ringing, so even though it was time to go home, I decided to pick it up. Boy, am I glad I did, because it was one of the best phone calls of all time.
The caller wanted some information about the power supply that comes with the Global II Dry & Store. Easy enough…I told him that it’s a universal switching power supply that will work anywhere in the world as long as he had the appropriate plug adapter, or he could use one of our power supplies that’s made with the plug specifically for whatever country he wanted to travel to.

“How about Afghanistan?” he asked. “Would that be the EU plug?”
Say what? “Yes, that would be the EU plug…”
Turns out that the caller was a U.S. Serviceman stationed in Afghanistan, and while he had a Dry & Store back home, he didn’t think his family would be able to find it amidst all the stuff he had left behind in the rush to deploy. So he wanted to order one, and he wanted to be sure that it would work where he was. He said he really needed the Dry & Store for his hearing aids because “it’s really hot over here.”
Well, if that didn’t set me back, sitting there in my nice, air-conditioned office, while he’s over there putting his life on the line for me.
Needless to say, I got his information to ship a new Global II, but suddenly my worldview changed dramatically.
Since that call, we’ve changed our policy to assist others like this gentleman. For all active duty U.S. military personnel, we now offer a 20% discount plus free shipping to APO addresses. Compared to the sacrifices they’re making on our behalf, it’s the least we can do.
We really are in the business of helping people hear better, wherever they are, and I’m thankful that I could help this one person who’s doing so much to help me. We ask for God’s blessings on these brave men and women, and to bring them home safely.

What a day brightener your post is particularly in light of all that went on over there this weekend. Thank you Dry & Store for supporting our troops. I will re-post this great story to my social networks as well!
Great story! Way to go Dry & Store!
