Dry-Brik Timer: You spoke. We listened.

When the second generation of Dry-Brik was introduced in 2007, it featured a more powerful desiccant. It also included a new kind of timer, called a “TimeStrip” to help users remember when to replace the Dry-Brik. Unfortunately, the TimeStrip received mixed reviews. This was the first time this technology had been used in a consumer application, and it turns out that the TimeStrip was not as easy to use as we hoped it would be.

Over the course of three years we tried to improve the TimeStrip to make it easier to use. So there have been three different versions, pictured at right.

But in the end, simplicity wins. We’ve heard you loud and clear. The TimeStrip with the press-to-start bubble has been eliminated. Instead, there’s a label on top of the Dry-Brik with space for you to write the date on.

Since there are still a good number of Dry-Briks with the TimeStrip in circulation, we want to share with you a few key points.

  • Regardless of which label you have, what’s inside the Dry-Brik II is the same – a powerful mol sieve desiccant.
  • The label does not affect the Dry-Brik function. The Dry-Brik starts working as soon as you remove the foil cover.
  • If your Dry-Brik has a TimeStrip, press the bubble to start the timer. If the red line does not start to progress within 30 minutes, you can press the bubble again, or simply write the date on the Dry-Brik.
  • The timer was intended only to remind you when to change the Dry-Brik, so feel free to ignore it if you want. Your Dry-Brik will work just fine without it.

The current version of the Dry-Brik II, pictured below, has eliminated the TimeStrip altogether, in favor of a card that provides space for you to record the date that you removed the foil cover. Plan on replacing the Dry-Brik every two months.
