Hi folks, I recently discovered that our videos, which are closed captioned, do not appear as captioned when viewed on an iPad. The one we posted yesterday was uploaded in supposedly the latest and greatest format – HTML5 – instead of Flash, so that it can be viewed on the iPad and any other mobile apps that don’t happen to run Flash videos.
Anyway, thanks to Bob MacPherson (of bhNews fame) for sending me the link to information as to why the captioning doesn’t appear on an iPad. The articles he sent indicate that the HTML5 developers “are working on it”, but apparently they have their hands full with a number of issues. Whatever. It can’t happen soon enough.
The good news is that when you watch the videos on a “regular ole computer”, you can see the captioning.
